It came to me whilst lying in hospital that I could put the MGWs concept to good use and raise some money for charity.
Having had to have a testicle removed, it seemed obvious that I should organise a cycle ride! In part because I like ridiculous challenges and partly because of the inspiration of one of my sporting heroes and fellow cancer survivor the seven times Tour De France champion, Lance Armstrong. Thus the 2008 ‘Basingstoke 2 Biarritz’ was born.
There are four riders taking part in this 6 day challenge from Basingstoke to Biarritz. The riders are planning on covering 100 miles each day and then having a well earned rest and no doubt one or two ‘Pressions’ and a bottle or two of ‘Vin Rouge’ on the glorious Atlantic coast of south-west France.
To make this ride a success we need your help. If you want to sponsor the event or the riders themselves please click here and you will be diverted to our ‘Sponsor Us’ page
All monies raised for this event will be donated to the ‘St Luke’s Cancer Centre’ at the Royal Surrey Hospital and Orchid the male cancer charity
